Residence permit in Sibiu: a simple guide

Moving to Sibiu for work, study or family? Here is what to expect when you apply for or renew a Romanian residence permit, and how to avoid the most common delays.

01Know your purpose of stay

Your permit depends on why you are in Romania: work, study, family reunification or business. The documents you need follow from that purpose.

02Prepare your documents early

Most delays come from missing or untranslated papers. Start gathering early and check every document before your appointment.

  • valid passport and visa, if one is required
  • proof of the purpose of stay (contract, enrolment, marriage certificate)
  • proof of accommodation in Romania
  • proof of means of support and health insurance
  • certified Romanian translations where needed

03Apply at the immigration office

Applications are filed with the General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI) in Sibiu. Check the official IGI website for current opening hours and requirements before you go.

04Renew before it expires

Plan your renewal well before the expiry date. A late renewal can complicate your stay.

05How I can help

I check your file, prepare the paperwork, talk to the authorities on your behalf and help if your application is refused. Consultations in English, French or Turkish, in Sibiu or online.

General information only. Every case is different, so ask about yours.
